Ordinary Kiwis must control their own future

The Ordinary Kiwis Party is born from frustration with the short-sighted policies being offered and the self-serving way politics is being conducted in our country. Things seem to be getting worse and there is no sign of that changing. The emphasis must be on the people - He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.

New Zealand has never had greater need for fresh ideas, fresh focus and a fresh direction.

THE CURRENT SITUATION

We are facing threats on many fronts. Good honest Kiwis are moving overseas in record numbers and New Zealand is also in the midst of a sustained period of economic turmoil of a magnitude unseen in generations.

THERE IS NO EXCUSE

All this is occurring at a time when technology is enabling the world to be more interconnected than ever before. This interconnection should lead to New Zealand being more integrated and able to have a first world economy despite our physical location – but it’s not. There is no excuse for our economic performance and the brain drain.

We must retain and enhance the best of New Zealand while embracing the future

OUR CHARACTER

Throughout history Kiwis have been a resilient lot. Kiwis have innovated and pioneered, sometimes through necessity, other times just because we knew we could do better.

OUR ENDEAVOUR

We have overachieved on the world stage. From splitting the atom, through to being the first to climb Mt Everest, to the current success of Weta workshops, ordinary Kiwis have achieved extraordinary things.

OUR ETHOS

Kiwis have always believed in a fair go. We have a strong sense of what is fair and what is right. New Zealand foreign policy has been an indication of our independent outlook. We no longer automatically align ourselves with any other country. We make decisions on their merits and are prepared to stand up for our honestly held beliefs.

OUR ENVIRONMENT

We value our natural environment and are proud of the natural beauty of our country. We appreciate the ability to get out in the fresh air and play sports. We love getting out sailing, swimming, fishing, tramping, hunting, walking and gardening in our own backyards, neighbourhoods, beaches, mountains and forests.

Ordinary Kiwis value the space and uncrowded nature of the New Zealand outdoors. We are also proud of the clean, green image that we portray to the world and want our environment to live up to that image.

We need you to become a financial member of the Ordinary Kiwis Party. Without 500 signed up financial members we cannot stand in this year’s election. Waiting another three years to make a difference is too long.

Membership forms need to be returned ASAP or we will miss the deadline. Get others to join – Together we can do it. We have two weeks to make a difference of a lifetime!
